Boudoir Ceiling

etched copper, patinas
6” W x 6” H (art only), 10” x 10” x 1 ¾” D (framed)
2016

This work is based on the ceiling stencil of the second floor boudoir in the Heurich House Museum in Washington, DC.

Working from a photo provided by the museum, I recreated the pattern digitally and transferred it onto a 6” x 6” sheet of copper. It was then etched, the surface deliberately distressed in the process. A patina was applied to the metal to emphasize this distressed texture and to give it the appearance of age.
